Know His Nature
And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
—Ephesians 4:30 NLT
You were made in God’s image. This means that the emotions you experience are reflections of responses that exist in the Person of God. As you can experience sorrow, so can the Holy Spirit. He is a mighty warrior, but He is also tender and gentle. He longs to protect you, and His jealousy for you is greater than your mind can grasp.
Your actions have a great potential to deeply grieve the Holy Spirit—yet you can also bring Him great joy. Abide in the Holy Spirit, the One who loves you without measure. Ask Him to bring light to the things in your life that grieve Him, and draw upon His grace to live in righteousness. As you live from this vibrant relationship, you will stand freely in His mighty presence!
